A driverless robot car with an electronic brain and laser eyes that see everywhere at once has been built in Germany to demonstrate the future of road transport - when computer-assisted cars take the steering wheel out of error-prone human hands.

This robot comes out of RoMeLa: the Robotics and Mechanisms Lab at Virginia Tech. It is America's first entry into the humanoid division of RoboCUP: the international autonomous robot soccer playing competition.
