1 Estimates for this country explicitly take into account the effects of excess mortality due to AIDS; this can result in lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality and death rates, lower population and growth rates, and changes in the distribution of population by age and sex than would otherwise be expected.

The Republic of Malawi (IPA: or ; formerly Nyasaland) is a democratic, densely populated country located in southeastern Africa. It has Zambia to the north-west, Tanzania to the north, and Mozambique surrounding it on the east, south, and west. The origin of the name Malawi remains unclear; it is held to be either derived from that of southern tribes, or noting the "glitter of the sun rising across the lake" (as seen in its flag).

Efforts to reduce infant mortality in Malawi got a big boost today as U.S. and Malawi officials marked the arrival of 75,000 baby caps made by knitters and crocheters throughout the U.S. as part of Save the Children's campaign to save newborn lives worldwide.

Celebs are always adopting children. Theres Madonna with a Malawi child. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt adopting from different countries. The point is. Celebs are always adopting. Victoria and David Beckham Haven’t adopted, Yet.

The biological father of Madonna’s adopted son David is hoping the superstar brings the tot to visit him when she returns to Malawi next month

The UK is backing a scheme to provide cash rather than food to Malawi in a bid to devolve responsibility for spending to locals. How do we know that it's not just going to end up in the hands of corrupt government officials in Malawi?

Because Madonna has cornered that market.
